The Sino-Dutch School of Biomedical and Information Engineering (BMIE) of Northeastern University (NEU) in Shenyang was established in September 2005 by 4 partners: Neusoft Medical Systems (Shenyang), Philips Healthcare (Eindhoven, the Netherlands), Eindhoven University of Technology and Northeastern University. It was decided to introduce modern teaching methods developed at TU/e into the curriculum of BMIE from the beginning, in particular Design Centered Learning (DCL). Now that ten years have passed since the introduction of DCL in China, it is time to review its implementation and future development.
